I’m a child of the Canadian North. It is an austere yet awesome place. I loved it even in its most bitterly cold moments. At its most benign and beautiful it can be sublime. This piece brings together many elements of life in the North: endless expanses of white snow, crisp cold starlit nights with streams of Northern Lights that whistle overhead, a full white moon, polar bears, beluga whales, snowy owls in flight, the cross on the village church, the flashing red light on the broadcast tower and the comforts of a warm cabin on the vast lonely tundra of the Far North.
