Jennifer Graycheck x
In no particular order, Jennifer Graycheck is an artist, educator, and sunflower farmer based in New
Iberia, LA. Although she uses lens-based techniques in much of her artwork, she continues to cross
disciplines and dabble in various processes in order to create and communicate her experiences and
ideas on what it means to be an observer and participant of this world.
Graycheck received her MFA in Photography from the University of Georgia’s Lamar Dodd School of
Art in 2010 and a BA degree in Studio Art with distinction from The University of the South in Sewanee,
Tennessee in 2005. She returned to her homeland in Louisiana in 2010 to begin her tenure as a teacher
and coach at the Episcopal School of Acadiana, where she’s served as chair of the Visual Art Department
since 2015. Throughout her career, Graycheck has exhibited regionally, including The Ogden Museum
of Southern Art in New Orleans, Louisiana, The Mobile Museum of Art in Alabama, Athens Institute for
Contemporary Art and The Lyndon House in Athens, Georgia, the Park School in Baltimore, Maryland,
and with local businesses and institutions.
Graycheck is a recipient of several juror awards, teaching honors, and is grant recipient for her interest
in the interdisciplinary fields of Art and Science. She’s instructed and developed courses in photography for study abroad programs in Germany, Costa Rica, and Australia and serves on educational committees for independent schools and art programs. In 2018, she was selected to present at the annual
conference for the National Association for Independent Schools, sharing her expertise in piloting a
filmmaking program for high school students that works in tandem with the school’s communication
department. Most of all she loves challenging her students (as well as her own children) to create passionately, take risks, and live with joy.
