“Relevance” is the newest piece created by local, self-taught, sculpture-artist, Libby Tobin-Broussard, and was inspired by 7 of her friends who fought breast cancer. The “Relevance” woman is intentionally made with no facial features. She is a depiction of any woman - every woman - who has bravely faced this disease. She sits strongly but guarded, her face to the light, as she contemplates her past, present and future. We find her in the exact moment she begins to weigh the relevance of absolutely everything around her. Even her scarf is subjected this scrutiny; her decision seemingly made as she gathers an end and begins to pull.
(“Relevance” is made entirely from recycled/repurposed materials. The color is achieved by gluing strips of magazine paper onto the frame.)
