My work explores self identity through experience. As a young woman from the south, I have
found it important to experience life outside of my personal bubble. Living in Montana and New
Mexico have both broadened my perspectives as a person by meeting new people and using
my camera as a tool to connect with others. I am drawn to nature, vibrant colors, and finding
beauty in the mundane. Along with digital cameras, I often use medium format film to be present
in the moment and to feel connected to my surroundings. Taking time to slow down and set up a
shot is much more rewarding to me. I am moved by memories and the feeling of nostalgia which
seems to come up in my work frequently, and the use of alternative processes such as
cyanotype reflect that. While I am still understanding the why behind my photographs, I hope to
connect with my feelings, my authentic self, and those around me.
