Ariadne, daughter of Minos, King of Crete, has fallen in love with Theseus and helps him out of the labyrinth after killing the Minotaur. In return he promised to marry her. Sailing back to Athens, they stop at the island of Naxos. They spent the night on the beach.
The next morning Ariadne wakes up, to find out she has been abondoned. She is desperate, when someone approaches her, Dionysus. They looked at each other and both fall instantly in love.
