"Concerto al Battistero," an acrylic painting on board, is a creation by the renowned Italian artist Adorno Bonciani.
Born in Florence in 1920, Adorno Bonciani displayed a profound artistic talent from an early age. His exceptional skill in drawing was evident during his elementary school years in the 1930s when some of his sketches were selected by Rosai and featured in the magazine "Il Bargello."
After completing his studies as a surveyor in 1946, Bonciani embarked on a journey of artistic exploration. Between 1946 and 1960, he resided in Milan and Venice, immersing himself in the world of painting. During this period, he absorbed diverse influences, drawing inspiration from the teachings of past masters, as well as movements like Cubism and Futurism. Notably, he found inspiration from artists like Campigli and Gentilini, infusing his work with a distinct, personal language marked by a profound poetic intensity, born from a blend of experiences and imagination.
Bonciani was not limited to visual arts; he also ventured into writing, crafting humorous poems and publishing two books. In 1977, he penned "La candida Valle dell'Ema," a heartfelt tribute to his hometown, capturing the simple and often humorous aspects of its people. In 1995, he authored "Ulinto," further showcasing his literary talents.
Throughout his career, Bonciani's artistic endeavors earned him numerous solo exhibitions in Florence, Italy, and beyond. His work resonated with audiences both in the United States and Japan, solidifying his place as a renowned artist with a global reach.
