This painting was inspired by the photo in the NYT’s magazine of Patrick Carney. He is a band member of “Black Keys”. They were playing sold-out arenas in support of “Let’s Rock”, their first album in five years. Their kind of frenetic energy had become their trademark. Dan Auerbach, the band’s singer retreated back to Easy Eye Sound, his Nashville studio. He wanted to play music that captivated him as a teenager and initially connected him and his bandmate, Patrick Carney. It’s always the pose and expression that get my interest and then the story!
