This painting was inspired by an article in the NY Times titled "Tidjane Thiam was the only Black C.E.O. at a top-tier bank. What role did race play in the scandal that took him down?" It tells the riveting story of Tidjane Thiam the former CEO of Credit Suisses, a global wealth management and investment bank located in Switzerland, and his firing. "He made Credit Suisse profitable again after a long decline. But he never had to stop fighting for acceptance and respect, both within the bank and in Switzerland generally. After Tijane's firing the number of Black chief executives at the highest level of banking dropped back to zero. The photo of Tijane Thiam and his story grabbed me.
