In 1976, Howard Finster was working at his bicycle repair work when a face appeared to him on this paint covered finger. The face conveyed the message that he should “paint sacred art.” And thus began his new direction and period of immense productivity as a folk artist. Finster would go on to great acclaim. The more I learn about him the more fascinated and excited I become. This portrait was pure fun and inspired by Finster’s own imagery.
