This painting comes from a photo reference in a class with Matt Smith and Tucson Art Academy Online. In this class we were focusing on light and values. In addition to important technical skills Matt is sharing, he is encouraging me as an artist to paint with my voice and not be constrained by trying to copy a photo. What a gift!
My Art Helper, Theobot, says: The artwork depicts a serene mountain landscape with towering, rugged peaks rendered in shades of purple and gray against a clear blue sky. In the foreground, a tranquil turquoise lake is dotted with several large, smooth rocks. The shoreline surrounding the water features patches of yellowish grass and small bushes. On the right side of the composition, two tall evergreen trees with textured foliage frame the scene, casting shadows onto the ground. The painting uses a realistic style with a focus on natural light and shadow to create depth and a sense of peaceful isolation in the wilderness."
And now I want to visit the Sierras, don't you?
