The Flagship Niagara is one of the most historically authentic tall ships in the United States. This ship is an accurate reproduction of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry’s victorious flagship from the War of 1812’s Battle of Lake Erie, the ship represents both Pennsylvania and her homeport of Erie in ports throughout the Great Lakes. This information was copied from: https://www.tallshipsamerica.org/ This piece is one of 5 tall ships that were racing from Sturgeon Bay to Chicago on Lake Michigan, July 2019. A local professional photographer, Patti Raine was able to get out on the lake to take photo's of the ships. She was kind enough to let me use them as a reference to render my colored pencil pieces. This artwork is part of a five tall ship collection that was made for the "Tall Ship Exhibit October/November 2019, " at Steele Street Gallery, Algoma, Wisconsin.
