This shrine to Mary is located on a dusty backroad somewhere in Marinette Co. Wisconsin.
The drawing is based on a photo my mother took of it back in the 1970's.
I think that it must have been put up around that time because it look fairly new then.
Three years ago I stumbled acrossed it again when I was lost coming home from Goodman Park. (One of my favorite places)
The park ranger told me that a fellow who was lost in the forest for several weeks,
promised Mary her that if she helped him find his way to some sign of people,
where ever he came out of the woods he would put up a shrine to honor her.
I can understand how he must have felt because it took me 45 minutes on sandy road,
seeing no one before I came out to a corner south of Wabeno on HWY 32! I was getting scared.
