Jesse Burke is a Rhode Island based photographer native to New England. Burke received his MFA from RISD where he is now a faculty member. He grew up skateboarding and exploring nature between New York City and Maine, teaching him to appreciate the wilderness, travel, and meeting new people. His Wild and Precious series documents road trips taken with his daughter to teach her these same values. In his statement he writes “Wild & Precious reveals the fragile, complicated relationship that humans share with nature and attempts to strengthen those bonds.” Bannister Gallery also holds some works from his Intertidal series, which “is an investigation into the delicate balance that exists between the heroic idea of masculinity and the true reality of men.”
