Vicky Tomayko is a printmaker who has lived and worked in South Truro, Massachusetts for over 25 years. She received her MFA from Western Michigan University and was artist in residence at the Cape Cod Lighthouse Charter School for ten years. She was awarded a fellowship at the Fine Arts Work Center in 1985, where she now manages the print studio and teaches during their Summer Program. She also teaches at Cape Cod Community College, Provincetown Art Association. She also served as assistant professor of printmaking at Connecticut College from 1979 through 1981.

According to the artist, this mono-print is part of a year-long Aquarium Series inspired by the Belle Isle Aquarium in Downtown Detroit. The artist visited the aquarium numerous times while growing up in Detroit.
