Emily Boucher graduated from Rhode Island College in 2013 with a BFA in painting and a BA in psychology. She paints small objects from life, especially pastries, citing the intimacy that they encourage due to their scale and relationship to the body. The paintings themselves are on a similarly small scale, inviting the same kind of close attention. She describes her paintings of food as being “about bonding with things.”

Boucher has served on the board of The Women Project Education Fund, a group working on educating Rhode Islanders about local politics and organizing in support of bodily autonomy rights. She continues to be involved in education and local activism.
