Florida For Now was created in 2018 as part of the Displaced series — works made during the 60 days I spent evacuated from my home and studio in Lower Puna following the Kīlauea eruption. The title speaks to the impermanence of that period — nothing was permanent, everything was for now.
Teal, navy, and coral collide in layered marks — hatching, sweeping strokes, and circular motion all held in the same composition. A bold diagonal sweep of white cuts through the center, bringing momentary stillness to the energy beneath. The work reflects the disorientation of that period — movement without a clear destination, color as the only constant. The pink in this piece has been slightly faded -$50 discount, as displayed in price.
