Vimana of Padmaprabha, Vasupujya, Vardhamana and Pushpadanta shrines (L to R)
The buildings of this triple-shrined temple have been rebuilt numerous times since it was first built, so much so that the original layout of the shrine and its surrounding structures is obscure. Today the shrine presents several different styles of building and decoration, including these elaborately decorated roof structures probably built in the 12th to 16th century. The outer structure is adorned with elaborate carvings of Jinas and protective deities, and the domes cap the important shrines connected by enclosed mandapas. Numerous important families contributed to the buildings and land at the site, as well as successive royal dynasties from the 8th through 16th centuries. The Jain temples at Tiruparuttikunram continue to offer active worship and have remained important pilgrimage sites for Jains in southern India.
