Vimala Vasahi, Interior hall with Carved Pillars and Ceiling
Vimala Vasahi is named after its patron Vimala, minister to Solanki king Bhima I (r. 1022-1063 CE), who dedicated this temple to Adinatha, the first Jina. According to legend, Vimala constructed the temple to atone for his sins conducted in service to the state and spent 153 million in the currency of the time to construct the temple. The temple is famous for its richly carved ceilings, pillars, doorsteps and lintels. In contrast, the pinnacles (shikharas) of the temples at Abu are plain and low compared to other Nagara style temples.
