Painted Ceiling, Samavasarana Structure, restored
The murals painted inside the Vardhamana temple depict scenes from the life of three Jinas including Vardhamana, the 24th Jina, also known as Mahavira, the 22nd Jina Nemi and the first Jina Rishabha. Here we see Rishabha seated in a samavasarana or assembly hall believed to be created by celestials when a Jina achieves omniscience and teaches the Jain path to followers, all having equal opportunity to learn from the Jina.
