The composition of this print is divided into two sections, one for a warrior’s helmet and another for a blossoming plum branch. The two objects allude to the warrior Kajiwara no Kagesue who fought for the Minamoto clan. He was thought to have placed a blossoming plum branch in his quiver to attract the attention of the enemy, and later to have lost his helmet.
