Astri Snodgrass

Artist Talk and Gallery Reception, University of West Georgia

To Turn a Stone to Clay

Artist Talk and Gallery Reception

Talk: 4pm / HUM203

Reception: 5pm / Bobick Gallery

Snodgrass’ sculptural drawings center around color, light, and line in the form of folded paper and muslin.

Her process of rubbing, folding, transferring, and multiplying marks involves a translation of sorts from one medium to another, informed by studies of Norwegian and Spanish and a love of language in general.

She is an Assistant Professor of Drawing and Painting at Boise State University, holds an MFA in Studio Art from the University of Alabama and a BA in Art and Spanish from Luther College. Experiences in Norway at Nansenskolen Norsk Humanistisk Akademi and the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo in Mendoza, Argentina helped shape her interests in language, light, and perception.
