Soft blues, gentle grays, and glints of metallic light drift across a layered surface, evoking the feeling of weightlessness — like clouds passing, stars emerging, or fragments suspended in a quiet orbit. Dimensional fiber forms rise above the painted ground in airy, cloud-like clusters, holding both delicacy and depth. Scattered found elements — tiny remnants of deconstructed jewelry — catch the light and create small constellations of wonder.
Floating in Space is a meditation on softness, suspension, and the delicate architecture of in-between moments — those rare spaces where things are not yet formed, but full of possibility.
The piece begins with layered tissue paper, followed by hand-dyed cheesecloth stretched and pressed to create subtle texture. Paint is applied in washes and glazes, building atmosphere. Twine is placed as a directional under-structure, like subtle pathways beneath the surface.
A sculptural mixture of pulped book pages and reclaimed fibers is added next — but here, the material is intentionally left loose and airy rather than compacted, shaping ethereal forms that float above the canvas like drifting constellations or passing thoughts.
Finally, fragments of jewelry are placed by hand — small found objects that shimmer gently, suggesting stars, signals, or moments of clarity scattered through the unknown.
Both tender and expansive, this work invites you to rest in the space between certainty and imagination — where stillness feels alive, and quiet contains infinite possibility.
