Just days before raging fires devastated nearby areas in Southern California, Ashleigh took this photo and started this painting. It was completed after the fire was extinguished. Like so many other signs that hang over communities, it bears witness to the extremes of peoples' lives. Some of our most meaningful moments can happen under glowing neon, against the soundtrack of sizzling grease. They can serve as landmarks in our lives, and during disaster, they become landmarks in our communities.
