- Spy Boy Walter, Walter Sandifer III
When I create designs through my traditions of sewing I'm always pulled to indicate aspects of my life that make me who I am. This piece was originally worn as an Apron for Carnival 2020 as it was really important for me to forefront who I am as my own artist though I share the same name as my father and grand father. In this patch you can see 3 of my hand prints indicated that I am Walter Sandifer III as my own man and my own artist. This color scheme was encouraged by my inner spirit as to what I believe will allow this piece to move. My patterns came from within as I made the needle dance through stones one by one.
