The artwork "Eureka: Brass Band Leader" begins with an expressionistic graphite drawing of the New Orleans Eureka Brass Band leader that was submerged beneath Hurricane Katrina flood waters. The drawing was reclaimed and repurposed/combined with mixed media pattern and texture to capture the Jazz musical tradition in New Orleans and the artist's response to the hurricane's aftermath.
