Thomas Mann has used the food and industry of the wharf area as the subject matter of his decorative triangular gables. Tomatoes, coffee cups, and ships are cut into flat, semi-abstract shapes. Mann's creative style suggests a "Techno-Romantic" design effort that incorporates contemporary high-tech materials with historically romantic imagery. The intent is to "humanize" and personalize the relationship between technology and the individual.
Known for his jewelry design, this project expanded Mann's scope to a much larger scale. Mann teamed with Billes-Manning Architects and worked closely with artist and architect Robert Tannen to develop the concept for the project.
