- Nic Brierre Aziz , Ti-Rock Moore
Print of time-based performance piece conceived by Ti-Rock Moore that took place atop the vacant plinth of General P.G.T. Beauregard—the general of the Confederacy who led the creation of the Confederate flag. Through the reclaiming of this land and the literal dismantling of the Confederate face of oppression, “New Wars. New Stories. New Heroes.” seeks to combat the illegitimate foundations of a paradoxical nation. The fact that this statue and plinth existed on former plantation land in front of a museum which continues to grapple with its racist and colonial roots compounds the narratives explored within the piece.
