Ketleflower is an immersive light and sound sculpture created with the intention of providing a breath of fresh and cleansing air – an oasis of calm -- with a hint of whimsy. This 19-foot-tall sunflower-inspired sculpture features seeds emitting colorful waves of bioluminescence, paired with an ambient and ethereal soundtrack.
Inspired by wild places, Josh seeks to share the sense of peace and wonder he experiences in nature through his work. Life in New Orleans is filled with spontaneity and celebration, and this finds its way into Josh’s work in enlivening ways.
Ketleflower debuted as a temporary artwork that was exhibited at the Lafitte Greenway’s Supernova, a free annual light-based, public art exhibit and music event in 2020. The piece was so well received, that Pitts was commissioned to create a permanent planting of Ketleflower for the Greenway.
