The hand is humanity's tool that has been used to build civilizations; to create masterpieces of art, music, and poetry. The hand of a surgeon can enter our body to restore, repair, or transplant. Human hands are used to build musical instruments they play them in a beautiful concert. Our hands, guided by human intelligence and divine inspiration achieve miracles every day.
The sculpture arises from the earth like a plant. The hands join together forming a flower as they reach toward the light.
In 2020, the entire Touro family stood on the front lines of the fight against COVID 19. To honor their courage and resilience, the Judah Touro Society awarded the entire staff the 2020 Judah Touro Society Award, Touro's highest honor. The sculpture stands proudly at the entrance of Touro Infirmary as a reminder of the power of a caring touch, the strength of a helping hand, and to create a lasting monument to commemorate the courage and dedication of the entire Touro staff.
