Brian Borrello has chosen an environmental theme as the subject matter for this window’s three panels: “Pre-Life,” “The Dawn of Life,” and “The Ages of Life.”
In the “Pre-Life” panel (left), the blue planet Earth is surrounded by other planets, while below are geological formations, atomic structures, and volcanoes.
In the “Dawn of Life” panel (center), the central green circle is etched with flowers and vines. Above are flying insects, butterflies, and bats; below are dinosaurs, elephants, zebras, rabbits, and other terrestrial creatures.
In the “Ages of Man” panel (right), a purple circle is etched with the image of a fetus in a womb. Above are air balloons, space ships, and satellites, while below are pyramids, skyscrapers, and cave paintings.
The Napoleon Avenue Branch Library is one of the oldest library buildings still in use. The location of this artwork in the library combined with subject matter make it a teaching tool as well as providing aesthetic enhancement for the space.
