How can stories that are attached to objects and now vacant buildings live beyond the loss of their material vessels? “As of a Now” is a 15-minute x-ray film projection installation that is 3-D mapped onto a replica of a vacant Baltimore rowhouse. The film uses audio visual narratives, augmented reality, and artifacts referencing its former Black residents over multiple generations. By highlighting the quiet stories and communal memories housed within these spaces, the film challenges external perceptions and definitions of concepts like “blight” and “vacancy.”
