Kyle Nugent was born in New Orleans, grew up in the Covington – Mandeville woods, and spent most weekends fishing in Grand Isle. While traveling through Southwest Asia and the Americas, Nugent integrated the study of volcanology with pre-Colombian civilizations and ethnobotany into his painting. For Nugent, painting possesses great healing power, functioning as the cartography of an indeterminate reality.
