Artist: Krista Jurisich
Krista Jurisich is a New Orleans-born visual artist. Recurring themes center on the metamorphosis of the New Orleans landscape. Her various works address transitional landscape anomalies, cultural artifacts from urban archeological sites, mapping of the historic and contemporary permutations of the Mississippi River, contrived landscapes of extraterrestrial life and coined ironic political statements.
Jurisich has been working as a professional artist in New Orleans since receiving her MFA from The University of New Orleans in 1978. Between 2005 and 2015 Ms. Jurisich created “The New Orleans Immortelle Series,” a photographic mixed media series memorializing various aspects of the vast destruction of the New Orleans Landscape forever altered by Hurricane Katrina.
