Artist: Kay Harris DuVernet (1947-2009)
Born in Albany, Georgia, Kay DuVernet was educated at Vanderbilt University and Georgia State University. She was an award-winning photographer and published poet who lived for many years in New Orleans, where her interest in photography began and where many of her photographs were taken. Her works have appeared in museums, galleries, and art centers throughout the Southeast and are now in the permanent collection of the Morris Museum in Augusta, Georgia. At the time of her death, DuVernet's book of poems and photographs, "Rain from Nowhere," was in the final stages of publication.
