Born in Pennsylvania, Kate R. Hanrahan is an artist and teacher who has been living and working in New Orleans for the past fifteen years. She graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Painting in 2007. Hanrahan has shown her work nationally in cities such as Atlanta, Savannah, Boston, New York, and New Orleans, as well as internationally in Canada and France. During the pandemic, Hanrahan rediscovered her love of oil painting after nearly fifteen years away, and embarked on a quieter body of work exploring the inner landscape. In it, she examines how an outerprescence, even through memory or imagination, can be brought inward as a sustaining force to carry us through dark times.
