David McPherson's art education started at Benjamin Franklin High School under the direction of Ted Calas. At Carnegie Mellon University, he studied architecture, sculpture, painting and photography. He currently lives in the French Quarter where the historic architecture and the vibrant neighborhoods along the river have been the focus of recent work. Utilizing a rich color palette and expressive brushwork, McPherson captures the essence of a city not defined by straight lines or polished edges. The paintings are dreamlike interpretations of a place rich with culture, history and life. His surreal streetscapes celebrate a city that is alive, colorful and constantly evolving. He opened his studio and gallery at 1029 Royal Street in September of 2020.
