Coral Penelope Lambert is internationally recognized for working in cast metal as well as producing large scale outdoor sculpture. She is Professor of Sculpture at Alfred University where she is also the Director of the National Casting Center Foundry.
Spanning three decades Lambert's approach to making sculpture is extensive in her response to site, process and material. Her work explores forces of nature and seeks to address darker issues related to earth’s resources. Working with fire to melt and cast metal can be challenging and unpredictable with spontaneous and uncontrolled results. It is precisely the scars that result from this particular way of making that interest her, as they portentously echo those made by us upon our earth.
