P-Nut x
Renaissance artist, William“P-Nut”Johnson began writing poetry as a young man composing poems on friend’s greeting cards and later on napkins in downtown Charleston bars. His unique folk-poetry is inspired by his neighborhood and life in the Lowcountry. In 1995 and 2018 P-Nut published his books of verse (the first in the Library of Congress). His poetry seamlessly translates into narrative paintings full of spontaneity and life, preserving African American history and Gullah-Geechee culture.
