Arts in Healing
Nadia Steiglitz by Nadia Steiglitz Image: Dance was my first language of true creative expression, giving me a deep connection between body and movement. I found that same intensity in clay, shaping it with the movement and physicality I once used in dance. That sense of motion continues on the surface—through waves, curving lines, and etched patterns that flow across the form. Often closed, round, and voluminous, my sculptures invite touch, intimacy, and warmth. Inspired by my Alpine childhood and life in the Southeast, their carved surfaces echo geology, erosion, riverbeds, root systems, coral, and topographies. These patterns, like tattoos on skin, become part of the form and invite the outside in. Informed by my interest in the psychology of space and how objects influence our state of mind, my work is meant to be felt as much as seen. What began as play has become a sustaining creative practice and a catalyst for change; sculpting is how I give form to my own transformation—expressing how I see myself in the world and channeling the creative energy that makes me feel most vibrant.
