- January 08, 2024 - March 04, 2024
Busra Dalgic, M.D., an artist hailing from Türkiye, embarked on a journey that artfully bridges her medical background with her profound love for art and culture. Following her pursuit of a medical degree, she chose a path as a postdoctoral researcher at Duke University Medical Center, working on inborn errors of immunity, nurturing her aspirations to specialize in pediatrics.
During her demanding medical school years, she serendipitously discovered the therapeutic power of the traditional Turkish Art of Marbling, known as 'Ebru,' which is included on UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage list and has its roots dating back 500 years to the Ottoman Empire.
Viewing her art as an integral part of her traditional culture, religion, identity, and way of life, Busra discovered solace and joy before her marbling tray. Expressing her emotions on the work became her daily wellspring of inspiration and respite. Acknowledging her role in preserving this ancient art form filled her with a profound sense of responsibility and purpose.
