"A New Beginning" honors the women who settled the area in the early pioneer days and is installed in front of the Old Cheyenne Depot Museum. The bronze depicts a "modern" woman in Victorian-era clothing carrying only a handbag and umbrella, leaving the train station and heading into the West. Her eyes point toward the state Capitol is meant to portray the forward thinking and "can do" attitude of women during that time period. The statue also is meant as a reminder that Wyoming was the first territory and state to provide women the right to vote.
