Mosaics of Seeds
A fascinating showcase of creativity and agricultural heritage, the crop art competition at the Minnesota State Fair features intricate artwork made entirely from seeds grown in Minnesota. Participants can enter more than 30 categories, and the judging criteria for each includes originality and distinctiveness, composition, blending of textures, neatness and more.
Quintessentially Minnesotan
Believed to have originated as a way to pass time on farms during long winter months, creating pictures from seeds debuted at the Minnesota State Fair in 1965. Now one of the most iconic and popular exhibits at the State Fair, the uniquely Minnesotan crop art competition features more than 300 entries each year. This gallery showcases selections from the last few fairs.
Minnesota State Fair
