Finding Our Way
'Finding Our Way' is a group exhibition of 15 works by six Minnesota-based women artists in various media. The exhibition of new work showcases their steadfast dedication to the evolution of their expressive art forms as well as each other's identity.
Artist's Statement:
Visual arts communicate, encourage, support, question, and comfort. We six multigenerational women artists translate thoughts, creativity, and dreaming into individual visual explorations of personal, social, and political content. Brought together ten years ago in a Women's Art Institute studio intensive, we continue to meet to support each other's visual expressions: the process, the flow of inspiration, our similarities and differences. Our communal foundation is imagination, ideation, and authentic voice. These influences resonate through diverse forms and media to convey multiple experiences, viewpoints, and cultural backgrounds. Deeper personal and artistic relationships emerge as we challenge and push for insights into difficult questions, enthusiastically engage the art-making process, and articulate ambitions and change through visual realization and form. A group exhibition aptly fits our motivation for action through individual and mutual artistic expressions and aspirations. And like everyone else, we are finding our way.
