This work explores the "futurology of the soul"; the speculative and often disorienting process of re-assembling a self fragmented by the echoes of trauma and the work to heal. Born from a raw flood of red paint ,which for me symbolizes heat, life, and the "light socket" vibration of a nervous system in flight, the piece reflects an intuitive effort to find balance within a "puzzley" collection of parts.
The figure attempts to avoid abandoning the exiled or reactive selves, but instead "listen". By shifting from a stitched internal eye to an "eye in hand," the work captures the unsettling yet hopeful moment of gaining a new vision: an introspection so profound that it requires us to pluck out old perspectives to see our truth with startled openness. In this vision of the future, the "uprising" is internal; it is the courageous act of peeling back layers of epiphanies to ensure that, through every shift and upheaval, we do not lose our way home to ourselves.
