Excerpt from artist’s Impact Statement: "The sunflower, with its bright and loud flower head, its long and sturdy stem, and its capability of always turning towards the sun, has always inspired feelings of hope in me. Flowers in bloom are astoundingly beautiful, yet their glory is precarious, bright and fleeting, coming as quick as it goes. But the sunflower, the sunflower is known for its resiliency, its long life, and its durability. It is the universal symbol of happiness, hope, and admiration, always facing in the direction of the light. All of these qualities are what I find inspiring in Herzig-Yoshinaga."
