Many families have a Tu B’Shevat seder, a meal with symbolic foods eaten in a certain order to celebrate the holiday. Tu B'Shevat is the day that marks the beginning of a “new year” for trees, when trees begin blossoming for the coming year. It is traditional to celebrate by eating The Sheva Minim, or, Seven Species. They include the following fruits and grains that are native to the land of Israel: wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives and dates.
