Full title: "Thunderstorm, British Columbia, Canada, 1974".
This is Werling's signature photograph and it's easy to see why. With the thunderclouds exploding over the mountains, the white horse in the foreground and the ramshackle barn on the right looking as though a zephyr would bring it down, this is a fantastic image.
Showing the influence of his mentors Ansel Adams, Brett Weston and Imogene Cunningham, this superb print must be seen to be fully appreciated. A huge silver gelatin photograph, taken with a vintage large format camera and printed by hand by this master of the darkroom. It is tack sharp, with rich deep blacks and stunning detail. The highlights absolutely glow. Digital images cannot do it justice.
This 16"x20" hand produced print is toned with selenium for preservation and mounted on 20"x24" archival mat board. Photograph is signed under image and has photographer stamp with handwritten title verso.
