It is January 1949 in Peking and a new Nationalist regiment comprising 10000 conscripted local traders is formed as the Communists reach the city gates. As the first 3000 are brigaded, anxious parents look out for their sons among these new soldiers as they are marched off.

This genuine vintage photogravure was printed in 1955 and has the warm tones and fantastic tonal range of a platinum print. A 25 x 17 cm print, archivally matted and in a 11"x14" black frame.
