Delightful, brilliantly composed vintage Hong Kong image. The geometrical severity of the uprights, the balconies and the shadows, powerfully emphasise the human interest at the heart of this photograph expressed in the subtler shapes. The shadows lead the eye brilliantly to the small figure at street level making the plea in the title.
Chew was a close friend of Fan Ho and the pair often went on shoots together whilst competing in numerous international competitions. This work is a perfect partner to Ho's "Approaching Shadow".
