My watercolor paintings are inspired by the beauty and the unique characteristics of the East End of Long Island. My recent series of watercolors highlight the people in our community who shape the East End through their hard work, dedication to the environment, and especially a passion for what they do. It has become an adventure and an incredible pleasure learning about their work and getting to know them personally. The painting finds beauty in the scene while commemorating their effort. I hope through my paintings I bring awareness of preserving the agriculture of the LI farms, the aquaculture of the LI waters, and the LI lifestyle that surrounds it.
The color in my paintings is a gradual buildup of watercolor pigment. I save the white of the paper as the lightest hue and gradually push darker shadows. Painting detail and texture is the challenge which keeps me completely engaged. I hope to recreate a truthfulness in the natural scene through realism.
Madeline Daversa is an award winning watercolor artist. He watercolors have been featured at galleries, restaurants, and wineries throughout Long Island and Connecticut. Madeline was accepted into the Heckscher Museum of Art Biennial 2024
